Simple Future tense

The Simple Future tense in Polish is formed using two methods:

  1. Perfective verbs: Use the present tense form of perfective verbs
  2. Imperfective verbs: Use the future form of "być" (to be) + infinitive

Perfective Verbs

Perfective verbs inherently express a completed action, so their present tense form conveys future meaning:

  • "Napiszę list" (I will write a letter)
  • "Przeczytam książkę" (I will read a book)

Imperfective Verbs

For imperfective verbs, use the future form of "być" conjugated for person and number, followed by the infinitive:

  • "Będę pisać list" (I will be writing a letter)
  • "Będziemy czytać książkę" (We will be reading a book)

Negation

To form negative sentences, simply add "nie" before the verb:

  • "Nie napiszę listu" (I will not write a letter)
  • "Nie będę pisać listu" (I will not be writing a letter)

Time Expressions

Common time expressions used with Simple Future include:

  • "jutro" (tomorrow)
  • "za tydzień" (in a week)
  • "w przyszłym roku" (next year)

Usage

The Simple Future tense is used to express:

  1. Actions that will occur in the future
  2. Intentions or plans
  3. Predictions about future events
